This was a practice piece done in Watercolour and Gouache. I intended to do a much larger painting in Acrylic. However someone said I had made the Knight look like a girl and the horses like donkeys:giggle:
I have scanned it after discovering it languishing under a pile marked 'duds'. Tweaked the colours in Photoshop and posted it, warts and all.

Fond regards to friends old and new

Like it! It's like a real old medieval painting!

I would disagree entirely with that less than professional critique! Its a lovely piece and so reminisent of the artwork of the period reflected. Well Done!

This is fantastic, Pat. I'd like to say that they didn't know what they were talking about (donkeys & feminine knight) -- but maybe your daughter said it? :giggle:
(wonder if she did...). I love this piece -- and it's NOT A DUD. Maybe I should cross the sea and go through your 'dud' file....
I'll get my dingy and oars ready for the journey.

Any particular theme? Looks like Sir Galahad. Very nicely done, anyway, very me.

My only criticism would be that the head of the smaller horse is at a slightly impossible angle to its neck - and its ears. If it were looking forward, toward the other horse, which would be the natural thing for it to do, the whole thing would work just fine. I think your attention to detail is amazing, and it surely has the look of tapestry! Please don't put it back in the dud pile, make a larger painting, but turn the pony's head!
