Cinders and the prince
The theatre curtains the Dames Thank you so much
I attempted to recreate an old Victorian Pantomime theatre look. The thespians among you will see I havent got a clue about lighting a stage.
I was going for the lime-lit look. (Useless information below)
The Scottish engineer Thomas Drummond invented the limelight in 1816. He used a core of limestone (Calcium) that was heated to incandescence by a burning mixture of oxygen and hydrogen.
The incandescent limestone provided very brilliant light that could be directed and focused. Its intensity made it useful for spotlighting and for the realistic simulation of effects such as sunlight and moonlight. It could also be used for general stage illumination. The limelight required constant attention of an individual operator, who had to keep adjusting the block of limestone as it burned and to tend to the gas that fuelled it.
Oh, an automatic fave! What a beautiful piece with such rich colors and textures. From the deep maroons and greens of the stage curtains, my eye just follows to the two sour grapes who hope to win over the prince in all their gaudy glory, but fail to the simple, but beautiful Cinderella. Actually, it's kind of funny, this past year my high school did Cinderella (I was the stepmother) and if anything, we wish we could have had that stage! You got the floor lights right, the ones overhead as well. Really the only thing missing would be spotlights, which they didn't have at that time anyway so it doesn't matter much anyway! Absolutely stunning piece of eye-candy!
I really do appreciate you taking the time to comment so thoughtfully
